Preventing Migraines

Preventing Migraines
“You never know how strong your are until being strong is your only choice." ~Bob Marley

Many of us are living with fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, skin issues or even migraines!

You may not realize this but the amount of toxins in our bodies has reached dangerous levels.  One of the 8-limbs of yoga is "mindfulness".  With consistent practice of yoga, we can be more in-tune with our bodies, minds & emotions.  When we're able to truly listen to our bodies we will notice the signs of something being off.  If left untreated these smaller issues (such as those listed above) can lead to something bigger. People are being diagnosed with autoimmune diseases on a daily basis with toxin buildup as one of the many root causes.

The sad truth is that most people accept this poor quality of life as their new norm.
Ughhhh!

What once started out as a class focused on the stretching & strengthening of poses and calories burned turned into a mindful practice "off the mat" that has helped me make better choices throughout the days, months & years to eliminate everyday toxins that cause many mental, physical and emotional problems.  The 5,000 year old ancient practice of Yoga helps us heal from the inside out.  It changed my life and I LOVE sharing it with others!!

If you are spending more time on your outside rather than your inside OR
have settled for mediocrity when it comes to health than I invite you to mindfully take the next 10-days to uncover ways that you can take charge of your health during my complimentary Migraine Relief Challenge.

So many people put such a strong emphasis on how they look to the outside world, but neglect the most important component to external beauty which is internal beauty!

“A healthy outside starts from the inside.” -Robert Urich

If you are ready to uncover simple things you could be doing daily to take charge of your migraines, then just click here & go - to join my complimentary 10-day Migraine Relief Challenge (the challenge will start right away).  In just 10 days you'll have a fresh start!!

Cheers to head relief,

YOU are the only one holding YOU back.

YOU are the only one holding YOU back.
"When you let go of who you are, you become who you might be." ~Rumi

Yay....Spring is just 2 weeks away!!

In Ayurveda, the ancient practice of Yoga off the Mat (aka science of life) we follow the seasons changes for healthy guidance & inspiration.

Transformation and change are both part of life and nature and its seasons constantly remind us that these occur naturally. We must go through all phases in order to grow and although we might resist change, it will happen regardless. If we become in tune with nature, we can learn to flow more freely with the currents of life.

SPRING – THE SEASON OF FRESH NEW BEGINNINGS

This is a period of transition, from the darker winter days to the bright spring vibes. As nature begins to come to life, so do we. It is a period of transformation for us also, and it’s not uncommon for people to shift careers, start new creative projects, end relationships or begin new friendships, during this time. To support this energy, it is a great idea to follow in nature’s footsteps and get a makeover also. It’s all about a fresh new approach to everything.

So, if you want to reach your healthy goals, you must shed your older habits and limiting beliefs in order to grow in the journey. Whether you're looking to have less stress, lower blood pressure, lose weight, have more energy....or whatever it is you want to change, you must be willing to let go of who you are — your fears, harmful habits, negative self-talk, etc.  At the end of the day, you are the only one holding yourself back from reaching your potential.

It’s in the journey where you find happiness. It’s in the journey where you become what you dream to be through growing....just like the seeds we plant in spring.

A weekly Yoga routine is a practice for life (aka off the mat and where all our stress, fear, set-backs and growth are gonna happen).  Allowing the mind and body a chance to align by following the 8-limbs of yoga are the steps needed to water the plant of you!  How many of these limbs have been apart of your previous yoga practice?  See all 8-limbs below:

1- Yamas - ethical rules to remain in control
2- Niyamas - practices to help you be good to yourself.
3- Asana  - poses to move you and refresh you physically
4- Pranayama - breathwork to help refresh you mentally
5- Pratyahara - withdrawal of the senses
6- Dharana - practice of mindfulness
7- Dhyana - meditation can be reached with the help of 1-6 above
8- Samadhi- bliss and ultimate goal of Yoga.  What we are seeking is already inside of us.

Try this flow for better sleep....

Try this flow for better sleep....
"Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees".  ~BKS Iyengar

Sometimes the stress and obligations of life can mount up to a point where sleep doesn’t feel like a productive way to spend your time. We’ve all been there, tossing and turning, getting tangled in your covers as you try your best to wind down your mind and ease yourself to sleep. It’s a super frustrating thing to go through, but there IS a solution -- yoga!

A great way to shake off the restlessness could be as simple as taking some time to focus on your breathing. This works to calm the parasympathetic nervous system and counteract the stress hormones that are coursing through your body. The addition of restorative poses to your practice is just the cherry on top of a recipe for a good night's sleep!

Enjoy this 10 minute bedtime flow (.but you can take as long as you want)....

Start in a seated position with your legs cross, then drape your arms in front of you and bend into a seated forward fold. Take a few deep breaths. This is great for opening up the hips and creating an overall sense of ease.

Slowly make your way to a standing position, then bend forward again for a standing forward fold. Bend the knees as much as you need to in order to feel a satisfying release.

Make your way to child’s pose. Massage the forehead against your mat by slowly shaking your head back and forth.

Take a seat with your legs in front of you, then rock your way back to plow pose. Take deep breaths and stay in this pose anywhere from 1-5 minutes.

Move toward a wall, lay on your back and lift your legs up vertically. Use the wall as support for your butt and the back of the legs, then spread your arms out to either side and relax. This pose has a soothing quality and is perfect for bedtime.

Twist it up to release any extra creaks and cracks that are still hiding inside you. Try either a seated spinal twist or a supine twist.

Lean back to reclined butterfly for a final hip opener. If you want, grab some blankets or pillows to place between your knees and the floor for some extra support.

Finally, turn your body on sleep mode by taking a few moments in Savasana. Focus on your breathing and try to picture the day’s stress melting away.

“Today is the oldest you've ever been, and the youngest you'll ever be again.”

In celebration of this past Monday marking another year as the youngest I'll ever be again, I wanna make sure that we're all not feeling the oldest we've ever been!  Many of us are postponing and ignoring something we've all known since kindergarten....the importance of getting a good night’s sleep can have a serious impact on the rest of your life.

Can you afford to lose an hour of sleep on March 13th?

Since it's less than a month away before we spring ahead to Day Light Savings time, I compiled 21-days of guidance to get you sleeping better, why it’s important & the biggest factors that contribute to insomnia as my Birthday freebie, Sleep Challenge below.

Did you know that lack of sleep can very often be a large contributing factor to the development of serious illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers later on in life?

Giving your body sufficient time to rest and heal after a day’s work is vital if we are to maintain a good level of overall mental and physical health.  Often times it's relationships, finances, career/life purpose, diet/exercise and other lifestyle choices that are the cause of sleep deprivation.

If you haven't done my 28 to Elevate challenge, this is the perfect place to start uncovering what in your lifestyle needs to take priority so you can have better health and BETTER SLEEP!  Learn more about 28 to Elevate here.
